THE CONNECT GROUP's Compassion Workshop is based on Stanford University's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research & Education (CCARE) Compassion Cultivation Training Program, as well as the work of Sharon Salzberg, Gil Fronsdal, and Tara Brach, PhD. Combining the essence of wisdom traditions, this workshop cultivates connection to self, others, and communities, in service of increasing empathy and compassion. It is an excellent method of promoting social emotional learning for teens.
The half-day and full-day workshops consist of reflection; journaling; group collaboration in creating a vision board for unity; gratitude & abundance practices; mindful awareness practices, and intra/interpersonal experiences that radically shift awareness and perspective.
Teens emerge with increased ability to empathize, find compassionfor themselves and others, as well as the ability to mobilize and take action to reduce suffering.
Our Self-Compassion Workshop for Teens draws from Dr. Lee-Anne Gray's book, "Self-Compassion for Teens." Influenced by the work of Kristen Neff & Chris Germer, Dr. Gray developed a training program for teens who wish to cultivate self-compassion. This workshop is offered in a series of 8 2-hour weekly sessions, as well as a half day event of 3 hours.
